Covert Park Beach & Campground is an all in one hidden gem tucked away on Lake Michigan. We are located on 50 acres in Covert, Michigan, just south of South Haven.
We have beach access for day use, as well as for campers up to 14 days. Covert Park offers primitive, developed, & RV sites for our campers.

Our park offers day passes at first come first serve basis. Covert Park Beach & Campground has a beautiful entry through an old growth forest, preserved dunes, and offers quarter of a mile of beach access.
Our beach has been preserved and protected as we are nestled in Michigan's Critical Dunes.
The wooded trails lead to stunning overlooks of the lake and dunes.
There's never a dull moment at Covert Park Beach & Campground! We offer one room cabins, primitive tent camping, developed tent camping, RV sites & a group site.
Our Camp Store as the heart offers a quaint, cozy, and comfortable camp experience. Our beach is accessible for campers by a paved path to an overlook or a wooded staircase & boardwalk to an additional overlook.

Covert Park Beach & Campground offers public beach access during the hours of 8am-8pm everyday of the week. Our Beach Season is April 18th through October 15th. Covert Residents have free access to use the Covert Park Beach & Campground with showing an ID at entry.
We offer day passes for beach access which includes a parking spot in our parking lot. Our public beach access is every day, 8am-8pm. No dogs are allowed on the beach, we ask that visitors leave furry friends at home. Maximum of 5 persons per vehicle for day use. Upon arrival please come into our Camp Store to purchase a day pass and we will guide you to parking. If we are at max capacity for the day we will put you on a call list.
Our campsites all have access to our beach & amenities. Each campsite is unique, offering fire pits & picnic tables. We offer Developed & Primitive Sites. See our map below for an aerial view of our campsites.
Our primitive sites are tucked in the forest upon first entry into the park. They are up on a hill that offers a walking path down to the large loop. Access to the shower house, pavilion, & beach are just a walk away. The primitive sites offer a picnic table and a fire pit, but do not offer electric or water hookup. When reserving a primitive tent site, the label on our map is a tent and the sites are T1-T7 & T10, T11, & T12.
Our Group Site is a primitive campsite in our dunes. This site has a limit of 18 people and 6 tents. plenty of privacy with wooded trail that leads to camp store or trails down to the larger loop & pavilion.
Two of our camp sites, T8 & T9 are our premier primitive tent sites. They are located at the top of our staircase in the forest. There is parking available for these two sites in our lot. Be prepared to hike up the stairs with your gear to a magical, forested camp site that is located on the top of our dunes. The campsite is located off of one of the main trails for visitors to use to access the beach, while offering it's own privacy.
Our developed sites offer electric & a water spout. Bring your own hose please. Each campsite offers its own unique natural beauty nestled in the forest or up against the dunes. Each site also offers a picnic table and fire ring.
Each RV site offers electric and water. Each campsite on our reservation system lists specifics for amp wattage & size of RV that will fit. A picnic table and fire pit are available at every site. While reserving online, photos of each site are posted for you to see for positioning your RV upon arrival. Call our Park Managers if you have questions about which campsite to choose for your RV.
We offer four cabins in our campground. There is a two night minimum stay.
One room cabin nestled in the forest on our loops, provides electric, full size bed & twin bunk bed. Sleeps up to 4. Table, bench, ceiling fan, picnic table, and fire pit. There are hooks to hang items, a broom, trash can, and fire extinguisher.
Our campground offers two clean and modern bathroom facilities with showers. Visitors using the beach have access to an outdoor shower & bathroom. Campers have access to our larger shower house during their stay. Located behind our Shower House is a rinse station for dishes.
We offer ice & local seasoned firewood at the camp store. We offer kayak & paddle board rentals as well!
We tailor to the needs of our visitors for supplies & gear that may be necessary during your beach day or extended stay.
Our beach supplies include umbrellas, frisbees, and additional games for your family. Don't forget to check out our new line of Covert merchandise, including mugs, hats, & apparel!
Our covered pavilion sits in the middle of our larger loop of campsites. We have 20 picnic tables. We also offer a playground for family friendly fun. Please be present with your children at all times at the campground as there are vehicles that use the loop, and a parking lot nearby. We have corn hole rental at the camp store and have a basketball hoop on site. Enjoy the pavilion for a family meal, game night, or if a rainstorm comes. We will offer occasional activities for the youth in our pavilion throughout the summer. Ask our Park Managers about any possible activities during your visit.

An online reservation system has been implemented this year. This is the first year Covert Park Beach & Campground is using an online reservation system. Click our "Book Now" links beginning January 1st, at 12:01am. Our Park Managers are available for phone calls on that day as well, beginning 8:00am. We appreciate your patience as we transition. We do have a maximum stay of 14 days for reservations. We do receive walk-in's so long as there are sites available that meet your needs. There is a $10 fee when reserving online.
Check-in time is at 3:00 PM, and check-out time is at 1:00 PM.
Rules And Regulations
Any violation of the following rules and/or policies will, at discretion of the Park Managers, result in the immediate removal of said camper (and guests) from Covert Park Beach & Campground and may result in prosecution under Covert Ordinance Number 117 of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment and/or by a fine.
It is prohibited to:
• To Consume or bring on the premises any alcoholic beverages or controlled substances.
• To enter or remain within Covert Park Beach & Campground while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances.
• To injure, damage, disturb, or remove any plants, shrubs, grass, wildflowers, trees, natural vegetation, wildlife, dune or to hunt or bait wildlife.
• To throw, deposit, or in fashion litter the property of Covert Park Beach & Campground with rubbish, waste articles, things or substances whatsoever, whether liquid or solid, including animal waste.
• To operate any machine, radio, disk, tape or other device which amplifies sound or creates artificial noise: or to be in a gathered crowd which either annoys, injures or endangers the comfort, repose, health or safety of others; unless this sound or gathering have been permitted by the Township Board of the Township of Covert, the Park Managers, or is necessary for the protection or preservation of property or the health, safety, life or limb of a person. Noise that may be heard at another campsite during quiet hours (10 PM EDT to 7 AM EDT) shall be presumed to annoy or endanger the comfort of others.
• To use profane, lewd, threatening or abusive language, to fight or quarrel; to be loud, boisterous, unruly or disorderly; to engage in unlawful conduct or offenses against decency against other campers, visitors, managers, employees, or agents of the park.
• To loiter in the parking area and/or inhibit the movement of vehicles or guests through the park.
• To discharge any firearm, BBgun,bow and arrow,sling shot, cross bow, or weapon on the premises.
• To discharge fireworks, other than those times permitted by the State of Michigan.
• To damage, move or remove any Park property, equipment or other facilities without permission of the Park Manager.
• To commit any trespassing upon private property.
• To solicit or peddle any articles, service or goods. Nor to distribute any written materials.
• To leave a campsite unoccupied for more than 24 hours.
• To fail to obey any command of a Park Manager, employee, or agent of the Park or interfere or hinder a park ranger during the performance of his/her duties.
• To allow animals to be left unattended, animals must be on a leash not to exceed six (6) feet under immediate control of owner. No retractable leashes allowed. ANIMALS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE BEACH OR IN THE WATER OF COVERT PARK BEACH & CAMPGROUND. Dangerous animals asdeemed by the Park Managers will not be allowed in the park.
• To burn fires outside of their designated fire rings or grills or NO MOVING OF FIRE RINGS. NO FIRES ON THE BEACH.
To fail to obey the posted speed limits.
• To not keep your campsite in a clean, neat, and orderly fashion during your stay and upon departure.
• Waste containers (furnished by the Township of Covert) are to be used for disposal of all trash and refuse.
• To have unauthorized motorized vehicles, watercrafts, trailers, etc. on the Park's Beach.
Campground Policies:
• As of May 10, 2023, the maximum number of days a camping unit may stay in the park is 14 days for any site, then the units must be removed from the site and park property for 14 days. • Only one Unit persite,1 Tent or camper. No Tents on Cabin sites.
• The maximum occupancy of a camp site is designated as 2 adults and four minors on one designated campsite.
• Group site maximum occupancy is eighteen people.
• A maximum of 2 Cars per site (parked on the site not on the road).
• Parking is permitted on reserved sites only, vehicles located on empty sites will be towed at owners’ expense.
• All units must be oriented with the unit’s tongue or steerage facing the road.
• Check In time is between 3:00 pm EDT (Michigan Time) and 9:00 pm EDT. No check-in will be allowed after 9:00 pm EDT.
• Check-out time is 1:00pm EDT. Sites must be clean and vacated.
• Renters must be at least 18 years of age.
• Anyone under the age of 13 must not be left unattended at the beach or camping area. • Only registered occupants may enter or remain in the park between the hours of 10:00 pm EDT and 8:00 am EDT.
• Maximum number of pets per site is 2.
• Only registered campers are allowed to have pets onsite.
• Minimum age to walk pets is 16 years old.
• No fences are allowed.
• No Dumping of Wastewater, Grey Tanks or Black Tanks on the ground. If found, you will be banned from the campground.
• NO OUTSIDE FIREWOOD
• Beach hours 07:00 am to 10:00 pm
• Beach Closed from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am
• Quiet Hours will be strictly enforced from 11:00 pm to 08:00 am.
• No electronic devices(i.e. TV, projectors, bluetooth speakers, etc.) utilized after 11:00 pm to 08:00 am outside of the registered unit.
• NO REFUND IF ASKED TO LEAVE CAMPGROUND FOR BREAKING THE RULES!
• All CovertOrdinances and Rules Subject to Change by the Covert Township Board.
Yes, pets are allowed at our campground. However, they must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after. As of the 2024 season, there is $3 pet fee per day in compliance with the Township ordinance.
Yes, the minimum stay is 2 nights and the maximum stay is 14 nights.
There is no accessible wi-fi on site, however, T-Mobile often receives and can make outgoing calls, and there is cell reception once you are on the Blue Star Highway.
The Kal-Haven Trail is a paved, accessible bike path that showcases Michigan's beautiful fauna and wildlife. Just at the end of our road, less than a mile from the campground, guests have access to jump on 33.5 miles of bike paths across Southwest Michigan. Whether you'd like a short ride, or a ride to South Haven and back, this is a local must see!
